The Pistons missed the playoffs for the first time in nearly a decade last season when they slipped to an abysmal 27-55 clip. Last offseason the Pistons made some perplexing moves in throwing big money at former UConn Huskies Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva. The experiment was a major flop in year one as a crowded stable of guards led to not many wins on the floor. Rip Hamilton and Tayshaun Prince remain from the Pistons contending teams of the past although both are in trade rumors every day. This offseason the Pistons signed Tracy McGrady to a one year deal. As if the Pistons didn't have enough guards adding McGrady was one of the most puzzling moves by any team this offseason. In the draft the Pistons selected Georgetown big man Greg Monroe 7th overall. Rodney Stuckey will likely earn the nod to start at the point in the crowded backcourt. Second year forward Austin Daye showed flashes of huge potential and may give Joe Dumars enough confidence to trade Tayshaun Prince for some much needed help on the boards. The Pistons appear to be in for a long season in 2010-11. I wouldn't be suprised to see Rip and Tayshaun wearing different uni's come March. The Lottery awaits for this Pistons squad.
